Dr. Carolyn Tate
Content Developer & Senior University Advisor
After graduating from Pomona College with a BA in English, Carolyn worked as a seventh-grade language-arts teacher in Baltimore through the Teach For America programme. Her love of teaching literature and writing led her to earn a Ph.D. in English literature from the University of Virginia where she also taught freshmen writing, queer studies, and seminars on gender and the history of the novel. Subsequently, she taught at leading independent schools in both Connecticut and Pennsylvania. Having originally come to England to do archival work at the British Library in London and at the Bodleian Library in Oxford, she decided to relocate to London permanently. Carolyn has extensive experience working both within schools as a counsellor and privately with students on both sides of the Atlantic. When not helping students with their college essays, Carolyn writes about representations of Victorian culture and literature in contemporary media.
