Meet the Team

John-Michael has taught the SAT and ACT for almost ten years now, and test prep has taken him to Nigeria, Qatar, Spain, and Switzerland. Prior to that, he taught high school in New York City (geometry & history) and Fairfax, Virginia (history & English). Since 1997 he has taught more theatre workshops than he can count on topics ranging from analysing Shakespeare’s verse to improvising wordless storytelling.

John-Michael attended Yale University but left for St John’s College, a university of 400 students in Santa Fe, New Mexico. St John’s offers just one degree course, an integrated curriculum of philosophy, languages & literature, and the histories of mathematics & of science. St John’s is a Great Books school, and students read only primary sources, from Homer, Plato and Euclid in the first year to Woolf, Hegel and Einstein in the last.

Some years later, John-Michael attended the London International School of Performing Arts, where he trained in physical theatre and collaborative creation.

John-Michael likes to cook, to eat, and to explore corners of Spain that he hasn’t visited before. Combine those three, and he’ll tell you that eating Spanish home cooking is pretty much the best thing ever. He is also a fan of silent film, and one of his favorite things about London is how easy it is to see Mary Pickford or Buster Keaton on the big screen.
