Alexander Basescu
Alexander graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an MA Politics with First Class Honours, having completed his junior year at the University of Pennsylvania. During his senior year, he served as the Operations Coordinator at the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program at the University of Pennsylvania and as a recent graduate now works on the External Relations team at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, DC, the world’s leading foreign policy think tank.
Fluent in English and Spanish, he grew up between New York and California, completing his IB diploma with four higher levels, before attending university in Scotland, studying abroad in his home country to better understand American politics. He has held various leadership and representative positions in societies at both his universities to better understand how to help underserved communities. Some of his most memorable university experiences include being the Assistant Secretary General of the Ivy League Model United Nations Conference, writing his dissertation on the influences of LGBTQ advocacy groups, volunteering to help high achieving low income students with their college applications, and pursuing music as a cellist and singer. He helps students navigate the admissions process by balancing logistics management with encouraging authentic individuality so students may find the schools that would best fit the lifestyle they need to maximize their potential.
