Meet the Team

Mike graduated with degrees in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Colorado - Boulder, with coursework at Harvard University. He spent over a decade in Hong Kong helping international students gain admission into US universities, having guided over 55+ students into Top 20 US schools. Mike’s specialisation is shepherding students to conceive and develop their own initiatives, whatever a student’s interests may be. Through this work, he helps students and their projects become google-able, corroborating all the claims in their applications by developing an un-forgeable trail of content, media, and impact. In this process, he teaches students how to write - for the application essays of course - but also in various different contexts: self-organisation, speechwriting, letters of approach, formal copy, onboarding volunteers, persuading participants, drafting pitches, and - most importantly - writing about the self. Mike champions the individual, their language, and their budding grasp of agency. He pushes students to follow their passions with integrity, meticulousness, and intent. A student’s interests may lead them into the artistic, commercial, architectural, literary, athletic, environmental, technological, or social - but if pursued with genuine sincerity, the stories that transpire will always help them stand out in a crowded applicant field. Mike also helps students through IB/GCE/GCSE math exams and math competitions. He serves as an IB math examiner, and won two Colorado State University Math Day competitions many decades ago. He is a poet and a songwriter, and is most likely to be found in a park.
